really nice! would be nice to come in with some clean rides at around 2.56 when the beats comes in again, a ride sound at, like every 2nd 8th note or something the bass is really nice, but personally i'd like it to have some more bite, maybe some tube distortion that swells up at certain parts.. or just copy the bass track and use it as a layer, mangle the shit out of it.. and have it come out every now and then.. good work!

THx dude il try to incorporate that in the final mixdown! question tho! if i did layer another copy of the bass and messed it up would i have to back of the original when i use the new 1, so it dont distort and put to much strain on the limiter????? be nice to know thx jv

im not sure exactly how to do it, but i'd try to do some crossfades between the new and original bass, to make the change more seamless.. or maybe some filtering to cut out freqs that might interfere.. i'd cut out the lower parts of the new and try to make it more midrange..

Nice gloomy beginning.. Next starts the beat: The programming and mixing sounds quite pro to me. I don't know drum'n'bass or production very well to know how to achieve it, but it would be imho close to perfection if the snare would be more "striking", kick more solid in the low end and the hihats wouldn't take space from the lower freqs. Just my ideas that come to mind while listening. It's maybe better not to take them too seriously. :-p Then the ripping synth comes into picture. That's nasty stuff man! :-) All the vocals fit well in the track and they make very good atmosphere with other elements and the switching between sampled(?) background breaks works well! There comes nice variation in frequency spectrum. U can hear the experience of a Dj in that. This track is another quality D'n'B tune! Hope to hear more of this kind of stuff! According to one mastering engineer your levels should be at about -18-(-24)dBFS during mixing (So if listening to him you should go at least as low as the beginning of yellow in the meters of Reason. He told that digital sound gear is designed to run around there.), so if the summed signal gets a lot louder you should probably lower the levels from both copies. Here are few links to forum discussions about mixing levels: http://www.studio-central.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=61527 and http://www.studio-central.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=61559 I have understood that during mixing you're trying to keep the signal as pure as possible and the levels are pumped up during mastering. edit: (Sorry I didn't read Ibunshi's comment carefully enough so I missed the idea about crossfading between different versios of basslines.)

thanks guys ive done what ibunshi said more or less with layering new versions of a distorted midrange bass line and added some rides to. Ripping and dark, love it. Great use of echoey vocals. As always joe, your basslines just tear things up. Nice. Agree with a comment above, some rides would spice up the high end somewhere in there... Love the doubled up amen loop that comes in near the end. There's one drum sound that's a little mushy to my ears. Almost like a tambourine sound in the main drum part. if there's any way to tighten that up, I think it would let those 8th note hi hats cut through better, and I think those hats are really helpful to keep this rolling.
